Welcome
UMCLB Welcomes Pastor Parker Prout
Pastor Parker Prout recently served as pastor and parish administrator for the SE Dutchess Cooperative Parish in NY. Born in Long Branch, NJ and raised in Torrington, CT, Pastor Parker graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, and later earned an MS in counseling from the University of Hartford. Before being called to ministry, he pursued a professional career as a human resources executive and consultant for a number of large firms, principally in the financial services industry. Pastor Parker and his wife have two adult children and reside in Litchfield.
Our Story
For the last three years we modern Litchfield Methodists have been meeting where Litchfield Methodists first met in 1835, 17 Meadow Street, Litchfield, just across the street from our former church building erected in 1885. A smaller building has brought a wider horizon. Instead of many stained glass windows in our former church, we have one, and when the sun shines through it illuminating St Paul we are reminded of his teaching that “We walk by faith, not by sight.”
Our Spirit
We are an upbeat congregation, free from the financial burden of the aging building we left three years ago. Meeting in our new home has given us a spiritual uplift and let us rediscover the power of the opportunity we have to do God’s work. On Sunday mornings we fill 17 Meadow Street with our songs and prayers, incorporating our at-home audience through Zoom. Our greetings to one another reflect the happiness of seeing each day as a day of new beginnings. Let us greet you!
